Wabbits!!!

I Just love rabbits. Sometimes Mum lets us chase them and sometimes not. We're DEFINATELY not allowed to chase them at Grandma's house because the rabbits live too near to the sheep. And we must never NEVER chase sheep. Mum says that sheep chasing carries the death sentance in the UK. Usually with no trial and by a very angry farmer with a 12 bore shotgun!

Chasing rabbits is my absolute favourite thing though. At the park near Dad's house we're allowed to chase them all the time and its fab. Whats more, i have discovered something else that i'm great at to! Not only am i as fast as a grey hound hound during the chase, i'm also as small as a terrier when it comes to following them into the rabbit holes!

Check this out!

Here i am, in the dead of night, sneaking down a rabbit hole to capture an unsuspecting wabbit!

Magically shrinking down to the size of a terrier i worked my way further into the burrow.

I've got them now! Those wily wabbits have got no chance against my undergound skills!

MUMMMMMM!!! HEEEELLLP!!! My butt has got stuck in the entrance!!!

Now, normally i'd be totally embarrased by this little incident. But hey, any story that finishes in a great picture of my super cute rottie butt must be worth it!

The sofa is STRICTLY off limits.....

Ok, so Mum n Dad have a rule in the house that under no circumstances am i allowed on the sofa. Let me first point out that this rule is totally unfair. Petra-NO is allowed on all sofas!! In fact, she even has a sofa of her own that they call 'PP's chair'. PP'S Chair??!! Sheesh. I ask you? I'm the compact, clean, non-drooly one and yet its that big galumphing thing that gets the sofa. Where is the equality?? I mean, check this picture out for cripes sake. Who would want THAT image in the corner of your eye when you are watching tv??

Carls' Note: Diesel is not allowed on the furniture because he has alpha male issues. Once he's on he won't get off with out a growl. Hence no sofa. Petra on the other hand gets on when told and off when told and reaps the subsequent rewards.

Anyway, they are very strict with the no-sofa rule and i am always relegated to the floor. Both Mum and Dad get very cross if i get on the sofa, BUT...... check this out. Mum came home from work to our old house and caught Dad watching TV with me on his knee!!! Ha ha, Dad is so weak. As soon as Mum was out the door he let me jump up, sit back and chill out while we watched the football. Mum went mad (after taking this photo of course). She harked on about disciplin and continuity etc.

So the no sofa rule was enforced for mnths after that, then, last night Dad went out and left me to look after Mum while she watched a scary movie and guess what??!! Mums a sucker for my cute little rottie face to!! By the time Dad got home Mum and I were fast asleep on the sofa. Check me out, how comfy does that look???!!!

The day i got a new nephew

This is the story of us getting a new nephew.

Getting a new nephew would be a good thing.... or so i thought. I love puppies and i'm not embarrased to say that I am a rottie who is totally in touch with his feminine side! For a few months Petra-NO and I had been in the secret inner circle of the 2-legged families super secret conspiracies. To cut a long story short our Gran had always wanted a German Shepherd Dog (obviously, having known me, she has subconsciously realised the error of her ways but is still in rottie denial). Despite missing the original angel-pie dog, Big Jake, she had never taken the plunge and brought one of her own into her family. Soooo, as Gran was approaching a big birthday that year (I'm not allowed to say how big, but trust me... its a lot of dog years!! ) the family had decided to get her a surprise. Hopefully she'd be happy. If not, i guessed that I'd be having a new little brother rather than a new nephew :)

So, one day Mum left Petra-NO and me at home and went off to collect the new arrival. She came back 9 hours later smelling of puppy-pee and holding a super cute bundle of fluff. He was soooo cute that i decided straight away that i would be his fav uncle and teach him everything that a growing pup needs to know. Petra-NO decided that she would be the miserable aunt and shouted at him when he wanted to play. Anyway, the plan was for puppy to stay at our house for a few days until Grans Birthday, but that idea went out of the window on the first night! Let me warn you guys that Mum is NOT a morning person. Nor is she any fun to be around if she hasn't had a good night sleep!! But for 8 weeks old this puppy isn't stupid. He cried and cried until Mum let him sleep in the bed with her!! IN the bed dogs! Not on. IN! I'm lucky if I'm allowed in the bedroom!

Anyway, Mum was really peeved about loosing sleep and so decided that Gran would have to have an early birthday present instead!!! I think Gran was a bit shocked when we presented her with him, but he's so cute that she couldn't resist. He's been named Jake in memory Big Jake. But for now he's little Jake until we see how much he grows. Here he is with me in front of the fire place at Grans! Isn't he cute?! I think he's about 10-12wks in this pic because his ears are standing up properly.

Author Introduction....

Now its time to give you a brief history of me. Diesel, AKA the pocket rottweiler (because i'm so diddy!). I am a 5+ year old rottie, with one ear and a bit missing from my nose, who found myself on the bottom rung of life's ladder. I have no idea what i did to deserve it (Carls' note: now that i know him, i can hazard a few guesses!!!) but i suddenly found myself needing a new 'forever home'. I had been unceremoniously dumped at the local animal sanctuary. I couldn't believe it! Me, Diesel, the nicest dog anyone could ever meet, DUMPED!!!

However, being so super, everybody wanted to rehome me. At least, i'm sure they would have.....its just that ....they mustn't have known that i was available.... But one day my future Mum came to visit. Obviously, she liked me immediatley and asked if she could meet me and take me out for a walk. As soon as i saw her i bounded up and leaned on her to say 'ok, you can have the honour of my company, but i'll be the boss ok!'. I think her doglish* must have been a bit rusty back then as she translated my leaning as 'cuddle me, i'm such a loving puppy dog'! Eitherway, it worked. Mum came back an hour later to introduce me to Dad and that was it, i had my forever home!

So, this is my current situation. I now live with my Mum (aka Carls. thats short for Caroline in case anyones wondering!) and Dad and a very, VERY stupid sister (more about her later!!) Mum is the boss and I am the alpha male, then there is dad and sis (Carls' Interuption: "DIESEL!!!! Its Me, Dad THEN you and your sister. Not the other way round. REMEMBER that!!). Harumph, Ok. Its Mum, DAD then Me, then sis. Happy??? Anyway, here are a few pics of me soyou can all see what i look like :)

Angel Pie Dogs - An Introduction

Hello and welcome to Angel Pie dogs, the blog thats all about me, Diesel, the cutest little rottie in the world! Well, it's not just about me, but i am the current angel pie dog and therefore most posts will be from my subjective point of view.

As i'm starting this blog in the middle of my life i'd better give you a brief history.

So, lets start with the name. As we go on you'll realise that my mum isn't great with names. Especially seeing as the names she comes up with are intended for her galent, valiant, heroic and fearless protectors such as myself. The name Angelpie was a nickname for the first and founding angel pie dog - Jake.
Anyway, Mum always says that Jake was a much more loyal dog than me. She is getting old though (nearly 30!!!) so she probably can't remember too well! She also says that, as i have only seen pictures of Big Jake, i don't know enough about him to do him justice. Heck, i don't even know if we dogs can see in anything less than the 3rd dimension! I just pretend to look interested when she gets the photos out... put my glasses on... the usual thing. She's probably right, though. You can't really say you know another dog until you've sniffed his privates, so i'll hand over to Mum.

Carls' note: Jake was a massive, long haired, rescued and 'full' German Shepherd dog. He got the name angelpie because of the angel-soft fur behind his ears. He came to live with me after HE decided he didn't want to live with his former owner. Its a strange story, but I lived in the same area as Jake's former owner and Jake would come round to my house, on his own, to visit me at every oppertunity. He even tried to jump through my car window when he saw me leaving for work one day! Eventually he did it so often that his former owners said that as he spends more time at my place, he might as well live there!

So, Big Jake moved in. I should point out that 'Big Jake' was never actually called 'Big Jake' during his lifetime. He was just Jake. But as we now have another GSD called Jake we distinguish between the two by referring to them as Little Jake (the new dog) and Big Jake (the original). Even though little Jake is now 2 years old, and anything BUT little, he is still much smaller than Big Jake, so Big Jake wil forever retain that title.

Big Jake was a wonderful dog and a fierce protector of his family. Some times too fierce and so great care had to be taken when strangers came to visit. I'll give him his due though. Hindsight has shown us that Big Jake knew a baddun' when he met one!!

With his family, however, Big Jake was the softest most careful dog you could want. My neice and nephew were 5 and 3 years old when we first got him, and they could do ANYTHING with him. Sadly, Big Jake left us some time ago and we still miss him dearly.
